Dustin's Reality

First Caitlyn had strep throat, then Lila came down with it, then Caitlyn had a random fever, and now I have a sore throat, and everyone in the house has the sniffles! Its been rediculous, one after the other, no matter how much lysol I use or how much hand sanitizer, we still keep spreading it around.

 

Work is going good, Im learning to do things on my own there, without assistance and whatnot. Im only working one day a week till the holidays get closer, then I should pick up more hours. The joys of just being seasonal.

 

Things have been good with Mike lately, we've not had an arguement in over a week now, and if you know how bad things were before, that is a huge improvement.  Havent done anything differently except we are both trying to bitch less and be more understanding in general of each other. Its been a nice change, and I for one plan on continuing to work on it as we are.

 

I had Parent Teacher Conferences (PTC) yesterday and Monday. Lila isnt doing so well in Math (she gets that from me!), and she's only very slightly behind in her reading skills as compared to where she should be. She is going to be doing in school reading tutoring, and Mike is going to be doing after school tutoring/review with her every night after school. Caitlyn and Gabriel are doing well, they are learning their letters and the sounds well, and while the papers said they were behind where they should be, they were done a while back, and even their teacher said they are pretty much right on track now. Gabriel has even asked me to help him start learning to read!

 

 

Nothing bad from work persay, that went great, and I got to know my manager a LOT better that I did before. Just now my back is killing me. I dont have the best shoes, Im hoping to get some this weekend, but ugh my back is killing me!! Otherwise, all went well, and I learned a lot. :)

So, I start work in a couple of hours...Im rather nervous to say the least. I have been a stay at home mom for the most part of the last 7 years. I worked 9 mo. at a restaurant out here, then another 3 months another time at another restaurant, otherwise I've stayed at home taking care of my kids. Im nervous about starting work again, Im nervous about how this will work with the kids school schedules, Im nervous about having to "possibly" find someone to watch them for an hour or so after school, or on those days they have out of school. I am just very, very nervous in general...

 

On another note, it was freakin cold this morning! Walked the kids to the bus stop and it was 46 outside. Too cold for my tastes, and yet its only a small taste of what is to come with winter coming and all. Im not looking foward to walking the kids to the bus stop (or driving them down in the van) with snow and ice all over. Ugh!! I miss the bus picking the kids up in front of the house like our old place!

 

Anyways, I'll let ya'll know how work goes today. Its only 3 hrs of training, so shouldnt be too bad.

I start work Wednesday from 11-2 for training! YAY! I am very excited. Part of my benefits is discounts at Gamestop and Barnes and Nobles since they are our parent company (15% @ GS and 30% at BaN). Cant beat that for the holiday season!!

So I got the job at Gamestop, I start within a week or so she said. I have the paperwork to fill out, gotta get it back to her on Friday or Monday, and start within a couple days of that...

 

About damned time I found a job!! :D YAY!!!

Sorry about not updating in a little while. I have a job interview today at Gamestop, seasonal work, but still, at least its something! It helps that we know the manager too.

 

Lila is however home sick today, low grade fever and a sore throat, will have to call the docs and have them prescribe her some antibiotics, as Im sure its the same strep throat that plagued her sister. Gabriel is also fighting a horrid headcold, but nothing I can really do for him but try to let him get plenty of sleep and fluids.

 

Otherwise things around here are pretty slow...same shit different day pretty much.
